About us
Who we help & how
At morgan&co, we support organisations to navigate the complexities of lived experience inclusion and social innovation. We do this through translating individual experiences and insights into systems level impact and co-creating conditions for power shifting change.
Some of the ways we can help individuals and businesses is by supporting you to:
- develop equitable engagement guidelines and establish good and emergent practice
- define types of support and resourcing required for organisational readiness
- imagine and plan to move from where you are now to a future participatory state.
The best way for us to understand how me might work together is with a conversation.
“No one can precisely define or measure justice, democracy, security, freedom, truth, or love. No one can precisely define or measure any value. But if no one speaks up for them, if systems aren’t designed to produce them, if we don’t speak about them and point toward their presence or absence, they will cease to exist.”
– Donella H. Meadows
Our approach & ways of working
Our approach and ways of working underlines all we do – and how we do it. These guiding principles are our north star.
We uphold anti-oppressive practice and principles
We approach all people in relational ways that seek to understand their unique contexts both in relation to and distinct from our own positioning. Service systems are often designed to reinforce dynamics of top-down institutionalisation. We ensure not to further replicate those dynamics through the ways we work.
We work from a frame of power literacy and critical reflection
There are stark power imbalances between institutions and the people who use their services. Our work seeks to minimise these imbalances through co-creating opportunities to meaningfully partner with communities most affected by policies and services that weren’t designed with them.
We actively involve affected communities
Meaningfully engaging people supported by organisations and broader community networks in solving social sector challenges is a key priority for us. As people with relevant lived experience ourselves, we understand the importance of co-creating impactful offerings alongside those most affected.
We invest in developing and strengthening lived expertise
We prioritise partnering with established and emerging community leaders to drive social and systemic change. Recognising the significance of drawing from a diversity of experience, we commit to subcontracting a wide range of specialists to develop and deliver contextually relevant solutions.
We prioritise dignity and value many ways of knowing
We actively work to honour the wisdom of people in their own communities, contexts and experiences. Dignifying approaches and responses are foundational to reimagining the role those who experience systemic exclusion play in social change.
We hold a deep commitment to trauma aware and responsive practice
Many of the people we partner with have experienced, and continue to experience, systemic trauma in response to ongoing violations of their human rights and the places they belong. We work in ways that are sensitive, intentional and accountable in response to community expectations and needs.
Our values
As a complement to our approach, our values outline what’s deeply important to us. If these resonate with you too, please reach out for a conversation.
Inspiring leadership
We bring people together, building communities of practice and facilitating a sense of belonging through shared purpose and across sectors. We aim to bridge the gap between theory and practice, igniting leadership and inspiring action in others.
Courageous determination
We challenge dominant systems and how they work, modelling how to work in partnership with others. We understand the courage it takes to use the lens of lived and living experience and honour the unique wisdom of each individual.
Instinctive creativity
We approach complexity and facilitation in creative, engaging and adaptable ways. We foster creativity in others and nurture an ability to trust intuition.
Considered curiosity
We are committed to ongoing learning, open processes and genuine dialogue, deeply curious and principled in all we do.
Purposeful intention
We approach all we do with fierce and focused intention – and support others to do the same. We know that everything we do ‘speaks’ and symbolises different things to different people. We recognise and are accountable for the impact our actions have.
